REFRESH YOUR POWDER ROOM: A REFLECTION OF STYLE AND INTENTION
As we step into 2025, we’re embracing the themes of refresh and renewal with excitement! This quarter, we’re diving deeper into the artistry behind our projects, starting with one of our favorite transformations: the powder bath. A space rich in history, the powder bath blends function and beauty in a way that invites intention and individuality. It’s the perfect project to kick off the new year with purpose and intention.
Within interior design, the powder room often holds an understated charm that is easy to overlook. Though it is small in size, it has the potential to make a lasting impression. It serves a functional necessity, while also offering an opportunity to showcase style and thoughtful design. The powder bath is a unique area within a home. Its intimate scale allows for bold aesthetic choices, and is one of the most frequented rooms by guests. As Kristen Thomas, principal designer notes:
“We give extra attention to powder rooms because, more often than not, it’s the one space every guest will visit when they enter a home.”
In No. 026’s powder room, we embraced this philosophy. We intentionally layered materials, textures, and a rich tone-on-tone palette. The room features a warm brown suede wall treatment from Phillip Jeffries, creating a cozy, moody atmosphere - making it a place to pause, reflect, and refresh. It’s a great example of how deeper tones can make a small space feel both inviting and classic.
At Studio Thomas we are committed to layering materials to add depth to every environment. This powder bath is no exception. We integrated a floating marble sink with gunmetal faucets that emerged seamlessly from the wall, adding a touch of modern sophistication. Aged brass, glass, metals, and stone work together striking a perfect balance of old and new. These selected elements reflect our belief that timelessness lies in the attention to detail.
Lighting also played an important role here, enhancing both the aesthetics and atmosphere. We incorporated sconces from Apparatus Lighting on either side of the sink. This is done purposefully in many of our powder bath designs as it allows for a balanced glow that washes the face evenly. Aged brass finishes and warm light temperatures add a hygge-inspired calm. It’s this thoughtfully crafted lighting that evokes warmth and a quiet energy - making it the perfect sanctuary for guests.
Carefully curated elements elevate this powder room beyond its intended functionality. Inspired by the height of the ceilings, we introduced an antique mirror that encompasses the whole backside of the powder bath. This thoughtful feature expands the area and adds enduring character. Vintage cameo pieces sourced specifically for this project add a layer of nostalgia. It’s thoughtful touches like these that transform an environment and make it unforgettable.
A powder bath with personal touches feels welcoming and intentionally crafted. At Studio Thomas, we believe that even the smallest spaces deserve sophistication and care. Our philosophy centers on simplicity, timelessness, and depth - a commitment that extends to every room we design. As Kristen beautifully articulates:
“Design is about adding layer upon layer in the right way. It becomes more than home; it’s a lifestyle.”
The powder room offers a unique opportunity to showcase this philosophy, balancing artistry with function. Your powder bath is more than a utility space - it can be a subtle, yet powerful statement. With thoughtful aesthetic choices, unique materials, and personal details, this small environment becomes a reflection of your style and attention to detail. So, take a moment to consider: Does your powder room reflect you? If not, now is the perfect moment to reimagine it as an area that welcomes, inspires, and rejuvenates.
