HOMES & GARDENS FEATURE: BEST DARK NEUTRAL PAINT
We’re honored to be featured in Homes and Gardens as part of their selection of the best dark neutral paint color. At Studio Thomas, every detail is intentional, especially when it comes to how color shapes a space. This feature reflects our team’s dedication to curating environments that feel both elevated and deeply personal to our clients.
When asked about a favorite dark neutral, our Principal designer, Kristen, chose a shade that embodies depth and quiet luxury, one that we return to again and again. She shares:
“Whitall Brown by Benjamin Moore is one of our go-to dark neutral paint colors, and we used it beautifully in this project on the doors, select cabinetry, and even on the ceiling of the entryway. When designing this home, the client wanted a warm and cozy atmosphere, so every material and finish was chosen to enhance that feeling.
We paired Whitall Brown with rich wood floors and beams, creating a seamless flow between architectural elements. This shade serves as the perfect bridge between the hardwood flooring and the baseboards, offering depth without harsh contrast. It highlights millwork and doors in a way that feels grounded yet sophisticated, adding a sense of warmth and continuity throughout the space. Extending it to the entryway ceiling was a deliberate choice—it creates an enveloping effect that enhances the home’s welcoming and intimate feel.”
We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our work and design philosophy with Homes and Gardens, and are elated that Whitall Brown could be a part of the conversation. If this timeless shade inspires you, or if you’re interested in how our team can bring depth and warmth into your home, we’d love to connect.
