THE ART OF MEANINGFUL LIVING: DISCOVER YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
PART I OF III
Our design philosophy centers around a belief that life should be lived with intention and every element of your space should reflect your unique needs, preferences, and lifestyle. The first phase in our design process is all about discovery beginning with a deep dive into four areas:
1.
What is your personal style? Look inside your closet and identify the commonalities in your wardrobe. Do you prefer casual or more tailored pieces or a mix of both? Are there certain colors or styles you are drawn towards? What are some of the descriptive words that resonate with you– “modern, edgy, sporty, classic, refined?” What are some of your favorite fabrics? Do you favor certain patterns or textures?

2.
Reflect on your preferences: Think about the movies you enjoy, the car you drive, your hobbies, and your favorite restaurants and hotels. These choices reveal clues about the environment you are naturally drawn to whether it’s elegance, simplicity, or something else. Let's find the common thread.
REFLECTION
3.
Visualize the home you desire: Imagine yourself walking into your home. What do you see, smell, and hear? Is there music playing, and if so, what kind? What is the atmosphere of the space–is it calm or energetic? These sensory details help you understand how you want to experience your space.

4.
What are the obstacles you are hoping to overcome? Are you entering into a new life stage like having children or empty nesting? Are you moving to a smaller or larger home? Does your current home no longer reflect who you are today or who you are becoming?
ENVIRONMENT
After examining these four areas, you will have a deeper understanding of what is meaningful to you and your lifestyle. In part two of our series, we’ll discuss the importance of emotional design and how we take your personal design style through our design principles to accomplish exactly how you want to feel in each space.
