ELEMENTS
Studio Thomas's elements of design are stone, wood, metal, glass, texture, and life (plants). We've discovered these are key elements in each environment we design, and when one is missing a space feels imbalanced. Tension is a major component in our design process - old and new, smooth and textured, edgy and cozy, masculine and feminine. This is what we believe keeps our design eye and our projects fresh, innovative, and creative while staying timeless, classic, and comfortable.
VI
STONE
Adds substance, depth, foundation, timelessness, natural material used in its original state, tactile
WOOD
Adds warmth, richness, earthiness, natural element, nature's artistry, pliability and uniqueness, lasting
METAL
Adds a touch of cutting edge, fresh, architectural, sleek, chic, minimal, intentional, patina
GLASS
Adds a purity in form, reflection/mirror, depth, doubles space appearance, reminiscent of water, calming, serene, an added layer without heaviness
TEXTURE
Adds a play between materials, sheen, nap/hand/drape, a quiet way of saying something, depth without dizziness of pattern, sophisticated, natural element, detailed but subtle
LIFE
Adds energy, makes a space feel alive, brings peace, like a heartbeat or breath into the space, tangible, living + breathing, the opposite of sterile, impermanent
